The Snake River Fund was formed in 1999 in an effort to keep the Snake River “fee free.” As the Fund has matured and grown, it has become the voice of the Snake River. Ancestral home of the Shoshone people and historically traversed by the Bannock, Blackfeet, Crow, Flathead, Gros Ventre, and Nez Perce, the Upper Snake River Watershed remains of the few remaining intact riparian ecosystems in the United States. It supporting a rare native fishery and diverse wildlife, undiluted by exotic species. This watershed is one of the jewels of Jackson Hole. It is a fragile place, worthy of our protection.
